Welcome to the new format for news from the Alumni Association. This section of Virginia Tech Magazine will take the place of the semi-annual issues of the Alumni Association news magazine Alma Mater. Our former alumni publication served alumni for 25 years, and we are proud to be merging with Virginia Tech Magazine.

The Alumni Association already has been contributing the alumni notes section to the magazine since its inception more than 30 years ago and, before that, to the Techgram. Now, each issue of Virginia Tech Magazine will include information about Alumni Association programs as well as advertisements from our affinity partners and other messages of interest to alumni.

We hope you enjoy the extra pages of news you can use in Virginia Tech Magazine. As always, we welcome your feedback and suggestions.

On a personal note, I want to thank the countless alumni and friends who have expressed their support to the university during the past year-and-a-half. Whether through thoughtful and sincere communications with many of us at the university, through service performed with VT-ENGAGE and alumni chapter service projects, or through generous gifts to the current campaign for Virginia Tech, alumni have shown the world the strength that binds supporters of our wide-ranging family. The term "Hokie Nation" now seems even more powerful in defining the spirit of this great university with its culture and motto of service. To all who have been supportive, you have made a world of difference.
