Lynnette Redd

Newly named Director of Multicultural Alumni Programs Lynnette Redd will work to increase involvement and participation of multicultural constituencies, collaborate with the Multicultural Alumni Advisory Board, coordinate and plan reunions and other events for multicultural constituency alumni, and assist the Office of Undergraduate Admissions with recruitment of prospective under-represented students. Redd, who received a bachelor's degree from Mercy College and a master's degree from Marshall University, previously served as director of alumni affairs at West Virginia State University.

Gwen Harrington

Formerly the office manager and the communications coordinator for Multicultural Programs and Services, Gwen Harrington (psychology '07) has been named student programs and alumni travel assistant. Harrington will help advise the Class System and Student Alumni Associates programs; manage a variety of alumni programs, including a program to transition seniors to young alumni; coordinate the alumni tours program; and implement and evaluate projects in support of the student program area.

Class of 1957

Some 310 members and guests of the Class of 1957 returned to campus Oct. 27-29 to celebrate their 50th anniversary reunion. The class reunion gift of $757,000 will support Tech's planned fine arts center, Newman Library, corps of cadets scholarships, the Holtzman Alumni Center, and grants for the Highty-Tighties. Class members enjoyed tours of the alumni and conference center; a presentation on the College of Engineering by Dean Richard Benson; an overview of the fine arts center by Tony Distler; a presentation by Maj. Gen. Jerry Allen on today's corps of cadets, followed by a regimental parade; and a memorial service honoring deceased classmates. President Charles Steger joined the class for its reunion banquet when classmates were officially inducted into the Old Guard. Festivities continued on Saturday with a pre-game "spirit brunch," a football victory over the University of North Carolina, and a post-game celebration reception.
